Catching an Early Morning Flight from Buffalo
Buffalo runs a heavy early-morning departure bank, and a 6am or 7am flight is the single hardest thing about flying from Buffalo as a Canadian. There is no useful public transport across the border at that hour, and asking someone to drive you at 3am and then come home again is a considerable favour.

Peace Bridge
Fort Erie to Buffalo
The most direct crossing to Buffalo Airport from the QEW. This is the bridge we use for the majority of Toronto, Hamilton, and Fort Erie pickups.
Rainbow Bridge
Niagara Falls ON to Niagara Falls NY
Passenger vehicles only, no commercial trucks. Convenient for Fallsview and Clifton Hill pickups, and often quicker than the Peace Bridge when truck traffic is heavy.
Queenston-Lewiston Bridge
Queenston to Lewiston
Usually the fastest option from Niagara-on-the-Lake and St. Catharines. It connects straight onto the I-190 toward the airport.

Landing at Buffalo and Getting Home

Personal exemption limits depend on how long you were out of the country, and the current thresholds are published by CBSA. Declaring accurately is faster than the alternative.

Why Uber and Lyft Cannot Do This Trip
Rideshare drivers are licensed to operate within a jurisdiction and are not permitted to carry passengers across the international border. An Uber booked in Toronto will not take you to Buffalo Airport, and an Uber booked at Buffalo Airport will not bring you home to Ontario. This catches out a lot of travellers who assume they can sort it out on arrival.
